In honor of International Women's Day, we had the privilege of sitting down with the inspiring owner of Georges of Dubai, Georgina Trigg, to discuss the multifaceted journey of being a woman in business. From building a brand that has become a staple in Dubai to balancing the demands of motherhood, Georgie shared her heartfelt thoughts on what it truly means to embrace leadership, resilience, and empowerment. In this insightful and empowering conversation, we explore her proudest achievements, the incredible women who have influenced her, and the valuable lessons learned through both triumphs and challenges. Her story is a testament to the strength, grace, and unbreakable spirit of women everywhere, reminding us all of the power of perseverance and unity.
My proudest achievement lies in the creation of a brand that is now a trusted name and true part of the fabric of Dubai, crafted from the ground up while balancing the responsibilities of motherhood. To build something meaningful - something that reflects my values of integrity, dedication, and authenticity, is both humbling and fulfilling. However, the true triumph lies not in the brand alone, but in managing to nurture both my business and birth / raise my three children side by side each other, learning daily that success is measured not only in outcomes but in resilience and growth along the way… (and also, staying married while doing it)! What is your proudest achievement?
I am fortunate to be surrounded by extraordinary women - some within my own circle, others in my broader community - whose strength, grace, and authenticity continue to inspire my journey. These women demonstrate that leadership is not about asserting control, but about empowering others. They have taught me that true leadership is rooted in vulnerability, in the willingness to embrace imperfections. These lessons have influenced my brand profoundly, reminding me that it’s not about perfection but about authenticity, connection, and building relationships based on trust and respect. Are there any women in your team, community, or personal life who inspire you and your work? How have they influenced your brand?
To truly build a brand with substance, culture, and heart, you have to be prepared to put in the time. There are no shortcuts. The ones who take the shortcut are often the ones who don’t make it. Trust is earned over time, and a brand with authenticity behind it doesn’t happen overnight - it’s forged through relentless hard work, sleepless nights, and a commitment to delivering value to your customers. The journey will be long and at times, challenging, but it’s in that grind, in those moments where it feels like it’s all too much, that you’ll find your strength and 'level up'. Trust yourself, put in the work, and know that the success you build will be sustainable because it is founded on resilience and dedication. I’m 9 years in and I still feel like I have so much to show of myself and my vision for GEORGES to my customers… good things take time, so take the time! What advice would you give to young women aspiring to start their own business or pursue leadership roles?
What have you learned through working with other women-led businesses and entrepreneurs?
What I’ve learned is that women-led businesses have an extraordinary ability to balance creativity with practical execution. There’s a nuanced understanding of people, needs, and relationships. It’s not just about the bottom line, it’s about building something that reflects our values. I've also realised that women know how to pivot, how to juggle multiple demands without losing sight of the big picture.
How do you empower yourself and the women around you?
Empowerment, in my view, is about fostering autonomy and ownership. I empower myself by embracing the continual journey of learning, of allowing myself the space to grow and evolve but also by backing myself and my ‘gut feel’ (this has taken practice)! I lead by creating an environment where the women I work with are informed, supported, and encouraged to take ownership of their roles. This freedom to lead within their own sphere not only nurtures their growth but enhances the collective success of the entire team.
The truth? Some days, the juggling act is more of an art form, and other days, the balls fall with a rather dramatic thud. There are times when the balance feels elusive, and on those days, I simply remind myself that perfection is not the goal - making it through the day is. I rely on my support network - my family, my team, my village - to keep the wheels in motion. It takes a community of understanding, flexibility, and cooperation to make the impossible seem possible. And yes, there are days when everything feels like it’s teetering on the edge, but those moments only reinforce my belief that the support we offer each other is not just helpful, but essential. How do you juggle it all?
The importance of women supporting women cannot be overstated. We are, quite simply, capable of things that ‘others’- no matter how well-intentioned - cannot replicate. It is in the very fabric of our nature to nurture, to multitask, to build something greater than ourselves, often balancing so many competing demands. Men, with all due respect, cannot do what women do in the same way. It’s not a matter of competence but of nature. Our ability to create and sustain life in both the personal and professional spheres is unparalleled. And as we do this, we must lift one another - empowering each other not only in moments of success but also through challenges, because we’re the only ones that know the sacrifice it takes. A woman’s true strength lies not just in her ability to lead, but in her willingness to extend a hand to others. How important is it for women to lift each other up and what does that mean to you?
My 3 words to describe womanhood would be... Unyielding. Instinctive. Beautiful. In honor of International Women's Day: Describe Womanhood in 3 words
